The Phantom Knights 2010 production is entitled True Colours, with music covering red, white and blue building to a closer of Gold.
Our show starts with a piece of music called “White Wedding” where you will see the guard build a wedding scene with the Corps in the church pews. Spot the crafty Corps movement to create the bride coming down the aisle!! Can you spot the creation of a big cross? This piece closes with a rebuild of the brides dress and a Photo opportunity.
As the wedding scene turns to celebration, piece two “99 Red Balloons” highlights the celebration. Watch this visual show carefully and spot a balloon being inflated by the guard. The balloon then flies off across the arena, bursts releasing the smaller balloons and the Corps turns the exploded balloon into a box that falls to the ground smashing in a drum feature. As the piece comes to a close you will see the small balloons mingle with the blue sky a perfect end to an evening of celebration or is it!!
Next up is “That’s why they call it the blues”, this short piece has that mood change throughout the Corps with the mellophone taking centre stage. This finishes with an arrogant we are down but still standing proud.
Time has come to bring the used red white and blue together in the piece “True Colours”. Watch the guard take centre stage using podiums and all the colours while the Corps snake through the guard’s moment. The horn line then respond for centre stage creating rapid drill movements known to the members as eights to knock them of the podiums.
Our closer “Gold” is the members' favourite, housing two excellent sax solos by the mellophones.
As the words in the song start with “Thank you for coming home” see if you can spot the house being built and the guard member comes home. This form is rapid so you may miss it and soon changes to a heart where a lone guard member goes it alone with the beat. As the piece progresses you will see a winner’s podium appear, will it be Gold for the mellophone soloist and can you spot the flame! Rapid drill and lots of visuals take the show to an effective colourful visual close.
But there is something missing, true colours but no rainbow!!
We hope you enjoy this year’s performance.
